Child Development Practitioner (Dual Credit)

The Child Development Practitioner OYAP (CDP OYAP) (formally called ECE OYAP) is a program specifically designed to help students make a smooth successful transition from high school directly into their post-secondary Early Childhood Educator apprenticeship or diploma program.

In Halton, the CDP OYAP is a Partnership Program with Seneca College.

Note: Grade 12 College or University English is a Seneca College requirement for entry into this course for the Bishop Reding SS program. Community Service hours and the grade 10 literacy requirements must also be completed before you start this program.

Early Childhood Educator Diploma program:

This program is running through Mohawk College or Sheridan College. Students taking part in these programs will be registered as both secondary school students and college students at the same time in these dual credit programs. Students may have the unique opportunity to earn both secondary school credits and college ECE diploma and apprenticeship credits in the same semester.

*In order to get your level 1 apprenticeship course, you need to take a total of 5 Seneca College credits which are offered the following semester.
